Project Overview

Attack on Titan UE5 Fan Game

This project is a fan-made multiplayer game inspired by Attack on Titan, developed in Unreal Engine 5 as a fun side project for a group of friends. The game recreates the iconic omni-directional mobility (ODM) gear, allowing players to swing fluidly through cities and forests, emulating the fast-paced and dynamic movement from the anime.

Players can battle against AI-controlled Titans, using physics-based swinging and precise attacks to hit their weak points. The project focuses on co-op gameplay but supports competitive modes as well. Features include:

  • Fully replicated ODM gear traversal system for both first- and third-person play
  • Titan AI with dynamic behaviors and destructible ragdoll animations
  • Custom-designed cityscape and open areas for exploration and combat
  • Multiplayer support, so friends can tackle Titans together in real time
  • Prototype combat system with combos and resource management (e.g., gas, blades)
  • Cinematic touches like slow-motion and particle effects for immersion

The goal was to learn more about Unreal Engine 5’s physics, animation, and networking features, while building something memorable for friends to play together. This hands-on project is ongoing, with plans to continue refining movement, AI, and multiplayer features, all while keeping gameplay fun and accessible for casual sessions.
